L’actual avinguda és resultat de les transformacions practicades en el port durant el segle passat . El carrer presenta aquest nom en honor a Juan Pérez San Millán i Miquel, primer Marqués de Benicarló. Va nàixer en 1869, va ser diputat de les corts d’Espanya i en 1905 va rebre el títol de Marqués de Benicarló de mans d'[https://ca.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alfons_XIII_d'Espanya Alfons XIII], rei que creà aquest títol nobiliari. Va ser membre de l'[https://ca.wikipedia.org/wiki/Assemblea_Nacional_Consultiva Assemblea Nacional] el 1927, i finalment fou assassinat per les hordes marxistes de Madrid el 1937. |
