The Benicarló Artichoke – Designation of Origin

Designation of Origin[edit]

On 18th September 1998, the Conselleria d'Agricultura, Pesca i Alimentació (Agriculture, Fishing and Food Department) of the Generalitat Valenciana (Valencian Government) ratified the Benicarló Artichoke Designation of Origin. This validation, which filled the whole town with pride, was the result of a joint endeavour and above all recognises an essential ingredient which, year after year, is produced on our land in line with the most stringent standards of quality and excellence.

Cuisine[edit]

The ways in which the Benicarló Artichoke can be used in cooking are almost infinite. You can see this in the huge repertoire of delicious starters and stews and the growing range of artichoke-based desserts that the town’s restaurants produce, never forgetting the classic, delicious braised artichoke.
